A roof, a plan, and people beside you.

Transitional housing and homelessness prevention for Franklin County families working toward a permanent home.

“To provide transitional housing while networking individuals and families with organizations to affirm permanent placement in jobs and housing.”

The adopted mission of Almost Home Transitional Housing Program, a 501(c)(3) public charity serving Franklin County since 2011.

How it works

One path, walked at your own pace: a furnished home, a workable budget, and people who stay until the keys are yours.

  1. Arrive

A furnished duplex becomes home for a season, with a front door that is yours to lock.

  2. Stabilize

Budgeting and life-skills coaching turn an unstable month into a workable plan.

  3. Build

Steady work, growing savings, and connections with employers and agencies across the county.

  4. Move on

A deposit, a lease, and a place of your own that lasts.

What we do

Two doors, one purpose: get people into housing, and keep them there.

Transitional housing

Our duplexes give families a furnished, affordable place to live while they work, save, and plan their next step.

Homelessness prevention

Rent and utility assistance, security deposits, and financial counseling that keep neighbors housed before a crisis begins.

Skills that last

Budgeting classes, financial counseling, and everyday coaching, so the stability outlives the program.

Who we walk with

Our neighbors are seniors on fixed incomes, disabled neighbors, and working families across Franklin County who are one bill, one layoff, or one illness away from losing their housing.

  • Seniors
  • Disabled neighbors
  • Working families

A stay with us

Families arrive from shelters, cars, couches, and overdue notices. They leave with a lease, a savings habit, and people who stay close after the boxes are unpacked.

  • A couple sitting on the floor of a new home among moving boxes

The first night, with a door that locks.

  • A grandmother and granddaughter baking together in a home kitchen

Ordinary weeks: work, school, a budget that balances.

  • Two people tending wooden raised garden beds

The last box, carried to a place of their own.
